Application

 

 

Q. How do I apply?

 

To apply go the homepage, scroll all the way down and press apply. Please do not forget to add previous model UN experience, preferred country and if you are part of a delegation.

 

Q. Who can apply?

Everyone who is over the age of 18 during the conference is eligible to apply. The conference is not curse specific, and most of the relevant information will be given in the background guides. In fact people from other studies than law or social science often have important perspectives to bring to the table.

 

Q. Preparation

Two weeks before the conference we will send out a background guide including background information in regards to the topics, the rules of procedure and other general information before the conference. In the background guide will be found the groundwork for your research, however you will have to look into the policies of your specific country’s position on the matters at hand.

 

Q. Opening Speeches

 

Delegates will be expected to prepare and hold one opening speech on each topic. The speaker’s time will be 1 minute per topic. The speeches shall address the delegate’s country’s positions on the topics and also to create a foundation to build the negotiations upon.

 

 

Q. How long will it take to process my application?

 

The application will take approximately two weeks to process.

 

Q. Accommodation in Uppsala?

 

UMUN will not provide accommodation during the conference. However we are at the moment looking into possible deals with hostels. Update will follow shortly.

 

Q. Volunteering

 

UMUN is currently looking for volunteers. If you would like to apply, please send a message to the presidents.

 

Q. Visa

 

After your application is confirmed UMUN will, upon request, send a letter of confirmation that can be used during an application for a visa to Sweden. Pleas indicate in your application if you require such document or mail the liaison officer at liaison@uppsalamun.com.

 

 

Conference

 

Q. How are the countries assigned?

 

The council you will be representing depends on your previous experience, selected preferences and application as a whole. You will have the possibility to submit preferences for countries and if there is anyone you would like to be your co-delegate when filling out your application.

 

Q. What is the dress code?

The dress code during session will be formal business attire, and at the Diplomat dinner its Black Tie

(optional).

 

Q. Will certificates and awards be given?

 

All delegates will receive a diploma of participation. Awards for best delegate and honorable mentions will

also be given out to the best delegates of each committee.
